Description

Time has broken. And what has crawled through the cracks is beyond anything humanity was prepared to face. Cronos: The New Dawn is Bloober Team’s ambitious and deeply atmospheric sci-fi survival horror experience — a chilling, visually stunning, and narratively rich journey into a world where the collapse of time itself has unleashed horrors that defy explanation and demand everything you have to survive. From the studio behind the Silent Hill 2 remake and Layers of Fear comes a bold and haunting new vision — original, unsettling, and impossible to forget.

The world as it was is gone. A catastrophic temporal event has fractured the timeline, colliding the remnants of a dying communist-era Eastern Europe with a bleak and terrifying vision of a post-apocalyptic future in a landscape unlike anything seen in horror gaming before. Brutalist architecture crumbles alongside alien structures that have no business existing in any timeline. The past and the future bleed into each other in ways that are disorienting, beautiful, and deeply wrong — and somewhere in the wreckage of collapsed time, something has awakened that should have stayed buried.

You play as a Traveller — a soldier of the future sent back through the fractured timeline on a desperate mission to extract survivors from the ruins of the past before they are consumed by the horrors that now roam the collapsed world. Armed with advanced future technology and the ability to move between the shattered remnants of different time periods, you must navigate hostile and deeply unsettling environments, uncover the truth behind the temporal catastrophe, and face enemies that exist outside the normal rules of time, space, and biology.

Cronos: The New Dawn builds its horror on a foundation of oppressive atmosphere, limited resources, and the kind of tense, deliberate survival gameplay that Bloober Team has refined into an art form. Every environment is a masterclass in dread — crumbling Soviet-era interiors bathed in flickering light give way to alien landscapes of impossible geometry and suffocating darkness. The sound design wraps every moment in a blanket of unease that never lifts, and the enemy design draws on a nightmarish fusion of human, machine, and something older and stranger than either to create threats that are as visually disturbing as they are mechanically dangerous.

Combat in Cronos: The New Dawn is weighty, deliberate, and never comfortable — a design choice that reinforces the game’s survival horror roots at every turn. Resources are scarce, ammunition is precious, and the enemies that stalk the collapsed timeline are not easily defeated. Learning enemy behaviour, exploiting environmental advantages, and knowing when to fight and when to flee are survival skills as essential as marksmanship in a game that never lets you feel truly safe or truly powerful.

The time travel mechanics at the heart of Cronos: The New Dawn add a layer of strategic depth and narrative intrigue that elevates the experience beyond conventional survival horror. Shifting between time periods reveals new paths, uncovers hidden truths, and changes the nature of the environments and enemies you encounter in ways that keep the experience feeling fresh, surprising, and deeply engaging from beginning to end. The fractured timeline is not just a backdrop — it is a puzzle, a weapon, and the key to everything.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5 and developed by one of the most ambitious studios in modern horror gaming, Cronos: The New Dawn delivers a visual experience of extraordinary quality — crumbling Eastern European environments rendered in breathtaking detail, nightmarish creature designs brought to life with stunning fidelity, and a colour palette that shifts between the washed-out greys of the communist past and the sickly, alien luminescence of the shattered future. On PC, the game supports 4K resolution, ray tracing, high frame rates, and a full suite of graphical options.
